Nicholas Mrozinski: News

March Rundown - March 1, 2010

Nicholas opens for Blues greats, Joe & Vickie Price (3/5) in LaCrosse, followed by another quick South Valley run, a week later, with his Feelin Band's first-ever stop at Whiskey Bones (3/12) in Rochester. The boys play The Popcorn Tavern (3/13) in LaCrosse, the following evening. Nicholas also shares the stage with Sans Souci Quartet and Two Many Banjos back in Minneapolis (3/19) at the Cabooze. Nicholas continues his usual weekly house gigs around the Twin Cities as well.

Speaking of house gigs, Nicholas just started another new one, playing a Piano Bar set from 9pm-11pm every Sunday night at historic, Palmer's. March at Palmer's has Nicholas sharing the stage with Charlie Parr, Alicia Wiley and Jack Klatt and the Katswingers.

Here's a quick recap of Nicholas's weekly house Gigs:

Tuesdays: Gluek's - Nicholas Mrozinski's Feelin Trio (every other Tuesday 9pm-12am)

Fantastic February - February 1, 2010

February brings some really exciting shows. Here are some of the highlights:

This Thursday (2/4) Nicholas opens for national touring act and one man band, Zach Deputy at the Cabooze. Zach's got a really cool sound. Download some free tracks off his website. http://www.zachdeputy.com

Nicholas Mrozinski & the Feelin Band are back at the Cabooze 8 days later on Friday (2/12) to share the evening with the Jason Shannon Band and the legendary Cornbread Harris, father of local music mogul Jimmy Jam Harris.

Later in the month (2/27) Nicholas Mrozinski & the Feelin Band host an amazing evening of Minnesota Talent at Mayslacks. "Son's and Daughters of Minnesota" will feature Desdamona, Alicia Wiley, Alex Rossi, Dylan Nau, Jason Fladager, Nate Stevens and John Wolfe. We are really excited about this one.

And of course the "Tunes & Toons" brunch series show, EVERY SUNDAY at the Suburban World Theatre. This one has been a fan favorite which features Nicholas and Jason Fladager playing to a backdrop of Classic Cartoons projected on the big screen. The Suburban is an awesome venue with some real character. Plus, Chef Ramon of the old Uptown Bar & Cafe is cooking up his famous Breakfast and they'll be serving Uptown's BEST Bloody Mary's for only $4.00, if you are so inclined. This one is really cool and Kid friendly, so bring the whole fam-damily. Cartoons start at 9am and music follows from 11am-2pm.

Back in the Studio, Charity Success, and the January Rundown. - January 1, 2010

Happy New Year Folks!

We are excited to share the news that Nicholas is headed back into the Studio w/ Dylan Nau, once again, as they are developing a new, yet to be titled, album. We'll be leaking some tracks in the near future for your consumption so stay tuned...this one is gonna be really sweet!

89.3 The Current has really taken to Nicholas' "Across the Universe" track as it has been in very heavy rotation for the past month or so. You can go here http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/the_current/playlist/song_detail.php?song_id=201034 to rate and request more of Nicholas on The Current.

Speaking of "Across the Universe", The Minnesota Beatle Project Charity CD has already raised over $40,000 to keep Music & Arts programs alive in Minnesota schools. Big thanks go out to the good folks at Vega Productions for putting this project together and giving Nicholas a opportunity to help the great cause. Many thanks go out to the pool of good folks and organizations who helped with the project along the way as well.

As for the January Rundown of shows, the beginning of the month gives Nicholas a well needed rest and some time to focus on the Studio. The January highlights include a new weekly house gig at the Suburban World Theater. Nicholas and Jason Fladager (Big Wu/God Johnson) will be playing a Sunday Brunch Series together, to a back drop of old-school Cartoons. They will be playing fun covers along with originals. It's a really neat new deal and is kid friendly, so bring the whole family. The Suburban is known for great breakfast and Bloodies. Nicholas also plays in conjunction with the "Frozen River Film Festival" in Winona. Check out all the dates and details at www.thefeelin.com/calendar.html

Nicholas contributed his rendition of The Beatles classic "Across the Universe" to the Minnesota Beatle Project (MBP) and is one of the select few who will be performing during the CD release party at First Avenue on December 8th.

"Together We're Stronger" is Available Worldwide on iTunes - June 9, 2009

If you use iTunes to download music click here Nicholas Mrozinski - Together We're Stronger - Easter and Keeko

Here are some early reviews of the new album, "Together We're Stronger"

"Mrozinski is just a terrific composer. The fact that he could string together so many wonderful moments on one disc just blows the mind.

Unless his songwriting keeps evolving at this impossible-to-maintain rate, this record will most likely go down in the books as his “Pet Sounds.” It moves effortlessly from lush, gorgeous numbers like “Easter and Keeko” and “What’s This?” to ones like “Predictable” and “And You Will,” which benefit from light programming flourishes.

“Together We’re Stronger” is all at once expansive and as inviting as the cheek grooves in your sofa.

Like Wilco did with “Summer Teeth,” Mrozinski is starting to come out of his shell, and it’s really a marvelous thing."

Matthew R. Perrine - Shake Your Shores

"...groovy Little Feat jams bumping up against Dave Matthews-ish feel-good choruses... Mrozinski's John Hiatt-like howl and bouncy piano keep things flowing..."

Chris Riemenschneider - Star Tribune

"Mrozinski assembled a small army of collaborators from local bands like the Big Wu, God Johnson, the Root City Band and Down Lo to help record his new album, "Together We're Stronger." The result is a loose and likeable disc that's sure to find an appreciative audience..."

Ross Raihala - Pioneer Press

"...Nick's distinctive voice...flutters up and down a very large vocal range. At times it is warm and low and others high and flighty. This gives the songs great depth of soul.

...not only did a lot of thought go into the content of the album, but the physical production was responsibly thought out, as well.

All in all, I am interested in where Nick Mrozinski is going."

Ian Indo - Twin City Scene

"...an organic, collaborative creation from production to packaging

Mrozinski’s music is more suited for sunshine-filled afternoons where the birds are awake and the sounds of the world are alive to sing harmony..."

Adam Hammer - Up Next

*Official Press Release - May 1st 2009*

A Shining Moment in Minnesota Music.

Saint Paul, Minnesota – The vibrant local singer-songwriter Nicholas Mrozinski’s last three albums came with critical acclaim, but—with some big time help, and a ton of steam—it is his newest project, Together We’re Stronger, that delivers some truly great songs. In 2008 we watched Nicholas lose over 100+ pounds and perform over 150+ shows. This new found energy, passion, and momentum brought All-Star Minnesota musicians out of the woodwork to be a part of his new album and to share their own gifts. Together We’re Stronger is not only a testament to the times we face, now, together, but also a validation of the thriving local Twin Cities music scene. The players contributing to the album span over 40+ local bands, unofficially dubbed “The Feelin Orchestra” after Mrozinski’s nickname “The Feelin”.

The way everybody came together to contribute like this really makes the album name ring HOME. It also says a lot about Nicholas’ individual talents. Ask any of the contributing local musicians and they’ll tell you that Nicholas’ music is special. Referring to his “global and magnetizing voice,” Rift Magazine believes he is “a chosen one” in the local scene. Budgeteer News discovered that Nicholas’ “music draws you in, and keeps you fixated from the first note. It's like falling in love with music all over again.” Summing it up is The Duluth News Tribune who proclaims, “This man is capable of producing such a warm sound, you’d swear you were sitting in front of an open flame.”

It’s time to start believing in your local music scene again.

Come see why on Friday June 5th, 2009 at the wonderful Cedar Cultural Center.
